A homeowner’s worst nightmare is to encounter a burst pipe. As the water starts to rise, you may start to panic. The key to stopping this chaos is to locate your water shut-off valve. That will cease the flow of water into your home and prevent further water damage. Dutton Plumbing always wants our clients to know exactly how to minimize plumbing damage until we can make it over with our emergency plumbing services. Our video will walk you through each step to find your water shut-off valve so you can find it in the event of a water catastrophe.
Find Your Water Meter
The first step is to find your water meter, as the water shut-off valve is usually nearby. If you live in a colder climate, odds are the valve is located inside your home. You may see a pipe coming out from the foundation. Your water meter should be attached to the piping. Directly above is where you would find the water shut-off valve. Turn the valve clockwise. In warmer climates, the water valve is likely located outside near your outside faucet. Turn the valve clockwise to shut off water supply to your home.
